Maritime history.

Water has played a large role in how society is shaped, from coastal settlements to trade and war. Yet another industry exists in the modern world, and that’s the leasure and tourism industry.

The marine schools act of 1874, is of most interest to myself currently, thanks to an article viewed at the National Maritime Historical Society & Sea History Magazine. The title ‘stormy past – Bright future’ ‘The story of a merchant marine officer education’.

In the 1500s, the well-known ship, the Mary rose, that in the modern world thanks to technology can be explored dry with the use of the cinema. DIVE THE MARY ROSE 4D, a perfect dream day out for those who are lucky enough. A time when the waters could be much more brutal places than they are today.

Yet its important to also show the significance of much smaller seafaring vessels like the la belle Marie, that I wouldn’t have known about if it wasn’t for thos little gem Steamer launched on Wye at Tintern is first in 100 years

I’ve been studying steam ships and locomotives in my spare time for hobby purposes and have gathered an interest in how these things form.
